Theresa Michalec LE CHHC CPT RP
My name is Theresa Michalec. My husband and I recently had our first son in summer 2011. We love spending time with our families and watching our son change and grow everyday. Working among the skilled therapists here at Hands in Harmony and being able to serve my community is a dream for me. I believe every person has the right to feel beautiful, healthy and free from judgement. I love helping my clients to feel refreshed and renewed when they leave a service with me and I always look forward learning new techniques and therapies to share with my clients.
From a very young age I have been interested in nutrition, fitness and holistic wellness, especially in how it relates to skin health and disease prevention. I began my journey by earning a B.A. in Health and Sports at the University of Iowa in 2006. I worked as a cerftified personal trainer in Cedar Rapids and went on to study with industry leaders at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in Manhatten where I became certified as a holistic health counselor. After living in Iowa most of my life, it was a life-changing experience to then move to Amelia Island, Florida, where I worked at an amazing little health food store. There, I learned a ton about different vitamins and supplements and how they work in the body. I moved back to Iowa in 2009 and began working as a Health Coach and wellness coordinator in Hiawatha.
My passion for helping people to look and feel their best eventually led me to Capri College where I studied to become a licensed esthetician. I thouroughly enjoyed learning about skin histology and how different ingredients, techniques and lifestyle choices affect the health and appearance of a person’s skin. I hope to educate my clients that outer beauty is only a reflection of healthy living. I also enjoy helping clients with their hair removal needs through facial and body waxing.
My dream has always been to integrate everything I have learned into a lifestyle program where people can learn how get healthy and feel like they are living life at their full potential. I always keep in mind what I would expect from a professional and do my best to be a role model and to exceed my clients expectations. My faith is what keeps me motivated every day and I hope that people can see that when they meet me and that it proves true when they get to know me.
