Tony Bohr LMT RP
Hi, my name is Tony. I was raised in Lisbon, IA and then moved into Cedar Rapids when I graduated from high school. Shortly after that I became employed at Midland Forge where I spent the next 20 yrs shaping steel into various useful objects, using machinery made well before the term
“ergonomics” was coined. Chronic pain became one of my constant companion’s morning, noon, and night. Midland Forge’s relocation to Tennessee last year allowed me the chance to start anew. It allowed me to consider a future working without wrecking my body, mind, or soul. I wanted to enjoy my work as well as help others and massage therapy had been one of the very few things that had ever helped my pain that didn’t require me ingesting something.
Since making that decision, I’ve graduated from Carlson College of Massage Therapy. I’ve been licensed by the State of Iowa board of Massage Therapy and become a proud member of the American Massage Therapy Association. I’ve also been fortunate enough to join this truly talented and gifted team at Hands in Harmony massage spa.
If I were asked to pick 3 things that make my massage technique uniquely mine, I would say:
1) My ability to focus on a specific task.
2) My “feel” or ability to “dial in” the needed pressure for my client. Skills I’ve acquired from years spent studying Je-Ying-Keun Kung Fu and Shorin Ju-Jitsu.
3) The 20 years of throwing steel around for 40 to 60 hours a week did wonders for my grip. Receiving my Reiki I & II attunements helped expand my understanding and appreciation of the energies that our bodies, and the universe as a whole, possess. Your massage with me will include a combination of Deep Tissue, Sports Massage, Reiki, and Swedish which we will tailor to your needs and wishes on an individual basis
Besides giving (and receiving!) massage, I enjoy woodworking, carving, and working in the yard/garden. As well as reading, spending time with friends and family. The moments shared with my wife, our daughter, dog and 3 cats make my life truly blessed
